Dubai: Former Lokayukta of Karnataka N Santhosh Hegde questioned as to how younger generation will be inspired to uphold humanity if greed and money rules the world.
He was speaking to the gathering at India club Dubai after receiving the honour from Kannadigas UAE and Malabar Kala Samskarika Vedi at India Club Dubai.
“In this world we were born as species named Homo sapiens and not as ‘humans’, but the tragedy is that these homo sapiens are not becoming humans,” he said urging people to teach their children to become good humans first and then everything else.
Talking about the multi-crore scams that have marred India, he said that though the people involved in these scams are a few, the impact is such that it can push the entire country into shame.
“It is impossible to grow in such corrupt set up, but we still proclaim that we are growing,” he said asserting that only two of the ten major scams get exposed while the rest go unnoticed.
Health Minister UT Khadar said there are institutions in the world which prepare you to become doctors, engineers etc, but there are no institutions that helps one become a good human.
He called upon people to look up to Justice Santhosh Hegde and learn to become a good human being.
He urged the youth to keep aside success for a while and pay attention on putting in hard work with honesty, which leads one to success.
Government of Karnataka Minister for Forest and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai said that honouring Justice Hegde is like honouring truth and honesty itself.
He lauded Justice Hegde for being the most honest, straight forward and most respected Lokayukta of Karnataka.
Meanwhile, Kannadigas UAE and Malabar Kala Samskarika Vedi also honoured Sudhir Kumar Shetty for his selfless service to humanity and needy through UAE exchange. In response to the felicitation, Shetty thanked Dr. BR Shetty for providing an opportunity to lead UAE Exchange and requested everyone to join hands to build beautiful and peaceful world.
NMC Hospital Chief Padmashri Dr. BR Shetty in his presidential address said that the scams and greediness of people in power has affected the growth of India.
“Fighting corruption is not the duty of Justice Hegde alone, it is the responsibility of each and every person,” he said.
MLA of Manjeshwara PB Abdul Razak and Entrepreneur Shamsuddin were present.
