Doha: Tulu Koota Qatar (TKQ), a socio-cultural association under the aegis of ICC, has been known for organizing events of the highest quality and wholesome entertainment. The Arjun Janya live-in concert proved yet again, that when it comes to quality programmes, TKQ is the best among the coastal Karnataka community in Qatar. Under the dynamic leadership of young and energetic Ravi Shetty, TKQ hosted an amazing show at the DPS Auditorium here on Friday, Oct 30 evening, that would remain in the minds and hearts of Qatar Kannadigas for a long time.
The program began with a short introduction from the host for the evening RJ Avinash, before the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony by TKQ president Ravi Shetty, vice president Prakash Thonse, General secretary Kiran Anand, executive members and senior members of TKQ.
It was then time for the renowned Sandalwood singer Indu Nagaraj and Chinmayi to set the stage with ‘One One song’ followed by Vijay Prakash who created a sensation with the song ‘Jai Ho’, a musical extravaganza of the finest quality. The melodious and good looking Vijay Prakash does not need any introduction. An Indian playback singer and film composer from Mysore who moved to Mumbai, he has lent his amazing voice to Hindi films such as Blue, Yuvvraaj, Swades, Kaal, Lakshya, Matrubhoomi, Tere Naam, Cheeni Kum, Raavan and Force. He has also performed in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies. He is also one of the four singers who were widely praised for the song, ” Jai Ho “, which won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song. He has also hosted the Kannada reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee Kannada and has performed in shows with the maestro Zakir Hussain.
Following his performance it was time for renowned sandalwood singer Anuradha Bhat to mesmerize the audience with her melodious voice.
With this began the musical fiesta that everyone in the gathering was eagerly waiting for. There was excitement in the crowd as they loudly cheered for the famed Sandalwood music director cum singer ‘Arjun Janya’ as he entered the stage.
The entertainment level of the show was at its peak with singers rendering hit Kannada and Hindi songs in a series. TV artist VJ Anupama Bhat provided the ‘tadka’ to the show with her unique style of hosting. It was ‘Oxygen Troup’ then set the tone for the evening bash. Oxygen Troup is a well-known dance troupe from Bengaluru specially flown in from Karnataka for this show and as they performed, the audiences were left spellbound.
Unique performances from Chinmay with his new concept of singing Jugalbandi with the TV screen with ‘Mere samne wali Kidki mein’ song made the audiences enjoy the sweet rhythm with light foot tapping.
Singers were ably supported by skilled musicians like Rony who was on the guitar, Alphonso on drums, Shakthi on Flute, Harshavardhan on keyboard and Shekhar on Percussion. The fun-filled evening went on to witness dance numbers that rocked the auditorium where audiences had no choice but to storm to the dance floor. It was indeed a great display of singing and music by extremely talented artistes.
During the short stage program, President Ravi Shetty and former presidents of TKQ Ramachandra Shetty, Divakar Poojary, Seetharam Shetty along with Diamond sponsor Satish, Executive Manager of QDC, Golden sponsor Felix Lobo MD Qatar Meta Coats and Golden Trading Asmath Ali joined in to felicitate Vijay Prakash and Arjun Janya on the stage. Sponsors were also honored with mementos. TKQ Cultural secretary Padmashree Shetty proposed the vote of thanks. She specially thanked the sponsors and the audience who made the event successful.
Tulu Koota dedicated this concert to the loving memory of its former president and Bunts Qatar President Prakash Chandra Ajila who passed away recently. It was a glorious tribute to a great leader, humble friend and loving human being.
