NRI Leeladhar Baikampady honoured with ‘Rashtreeya Bhushan’ National Award

Bangalore: Since the past 21 years the Bangalore based ‘Bharat Ratna Sir M. Vishweshwaraya Foundation’ has been engaged in recognizing the true achievers and the real social contributors by honoring them, with prestigious state and national level awards.

Similarly for the year 2014, the Foundation has unanimously chosen Bahrain based non-resident Kannadiga Leeladhar Baikampady, for the coveted ‘Rashtreeya Bhushan’ national award in appreciation of his longstanding contributions and laudable achievements in various arenas, over the past 27 years.

Leeladhar Baikampady has been contributing to the fields of land & language, culture, literature, social service, charity, youth organizing etc. in the different locations like Undivided South Kanara, Bangalore, Mumbai and also in Bahrain. He has also achieved great heights in many other fields and proved himself to be an achiever. All these multifaceted social activities which he continues to do on his own and through various organizations and also his talent based multiple attainments were considered when he was nominated for the award.

The award was presented at a grand ceremony held  recently at the Nayana Auditorium situated in Kannada Bhavan, Bangalore and noted litterateur K. R. Sandhya Reddy presided over this event. Junior Irrigation Minister of Karnataka, Shivaraj S. Tangadagi inaugurated the event. Distinguished dignitaries like Ex Ministers of Karnataka, PGR Sindhia, H.M. Revanna, Motamma, Former Bangalore Mayor J. Huchappa, Seer of Belgaum-Balehonnur Matt Shree Kalmeshwar Mahaswamigalu and retired IAS Officers Dr. C. Somashekhar and Dr. D. S. Ashwath were present on the stage as guests of honour.     

At the end of this day-long fabulous programme, there was a colourful cultural extravaganza by talented artists, from different parts of Karnataka.

It was in the midst of this spectacular entertainment event, Minister Shivaraj S. Tangadagi, Ex Ministers PGR Sindhia and Motamma jointly honoured the achievers of different fields including Leeladhar Baikampady.
