Doha-Qatar: Norbert Simon Corda, hailing from Shirva-Udupi was unanimously elected the President of MCC on Friday June 20 during its annual general body meeting held at the Skills Development Centre in Doha, Qatar.
The program began with a prayer led by Patrick D’souza. Outgoing President Sunil Kevin D’Silva led his committee to the dias. General Secretary Prakash Noronha presented a detailed report on club’s activities while Treasurer Ephrem D’Sa placed the details of the audited financial report.
President Sunil D’Silva then addressed the gathering and gave his brief message on the success story of last year’s activities and lauded the services of the outgoing committee members for their dedication and hard work during his tenure and thanked the members for their support for all programs. A brief question answer session was allowed for members.
MCC Former president & advisory council member Richard D’Souza was the returning officer and then conducted the election procedure first by dissolving the committee by discharging off their duties on their completion of 2 years term. He then read out the nominations received for all 13 posts and invited them to the stage. He then read out each portfolio’s duties and confirmed their acceptance to their duties.
Outgoing president Sunil D’Silva then handed over the constitution to the new president. The newly-elected president Norbert Corda gave the acceptance speech and appealed to all the members for their continued support and co-operation. He assured the members that the new team would work for the betterment of the club and its members through various activities and promote mother tongue Konkani and its culture.
The MCC new president Norbert corda known for his leadership and mentoring qualities and innovative ideas, who also served in club as president during the year 2006-2008, even still MCC people can remember his caring & sharing qualities. Norbert Corda is basically from Shirva-Udupi, working in Qatar from last 25 years as Administrator in one of the reputed company GBICo. He is having two children Nikita & Neil and caring wife Nelly Corda who are settled down in native place.
As a day’s attraction a lucky prize draw for lucky MCC member was conducted and the two lucky members were Vivian D’Souza and Albert Dominic D’Souza who were presented with gifts by Sunil D’Silva and Norbert Corda.
Daphney Lobo then proposed vote of thanks. Charismatic Nina Fernandes compered the entire event.
Members were then treated with delicious snacks.
