Doha-Qatar: Milan Arun, a prominent social worker was crowned president after grabbing 863 votes out of 1013 votes in the recent election held on Thursday evening, November 24 at Ashoka Hall-Doha.
Indian Cultural Centre is an apex body of Indian Embassy established in 1992. The Indian Embassy in Qatar amended that all Indian cultural communities should be registered under the aegis of ICC. After ICC formation, this is the first time in its history that a Karnataka based lady has become president. It not only created history, but also spread happiness among Karnataka based communities.
Milan has always been a support to various communities and contributed to their growth without considering caste, creed, grade and religion. She was very dedicated as ladies wing advisory member for KSQ, advisory for Tulukoota, KMCA, North India Associations, ICBF head of sponsorship and ICC cultural secretary.
Milan Arun is born to couple M.Giriappa and Anandi as their eldest daughter. She was brought up in Mulki, Mangaluru. Milan completed her primary education from Krishnammal Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore and did her graduation from Madras University. Currently she is working as a Marketing Manager in Gulf Air and is residing in Qatar from last 20 years. She is married to Arun Kumar, a Bengalurean residing in Qatar. They have one child Anketha who is pursuing her graduation in law. Arun Kumar is also a prominent social community leader who was the past president of Karnataka Sangha Qatar and currently the advisory board member of KSQ. Both the wife and husband have created their own image, love and affection among the community people by their selfless service and humbleness. Milan always says, “Humbleness makes man to grow and it’s the key to win the heart of any person’. After winning the election, Milan said to media that she is willing to work with all community people in whatever possible way and make her promises during the election campaign come true”.
After winning the election, Milan Arun has proved that nothing is impossible for women including the ICC President’s post. Indian communities extended greetings to Milan and shared kind words saying, the first lady president of ICC will bring good vibes in all the communities.
