Qatar : Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Qatar organised popular Ladies Open Throwball Tournament for the successive 13th year which is conducted annually open to ladies of all communities.
In a thrilling match, MCC Ladies Throwball team defeated Tulukoota Qatar and lifted the 13th Women Throw Ball tournament cup here on Friday evening.
All the league matches were played in a very sportive sprit and referees did a good job by conducting all the matches without any controversies.
On 30th October six teams played their league matches. The tournament began with oath taking ceremony conducted by MCC sports secretary Alexious castelino. The following teams participated in the tournament.
1) Karnataka Sangha Qatar
2) Tulukoota Qatar
3) Konkan Stars
4) Royal Warriors
5)Alkhor community
6) host team MCC
Karnataka Sangha Qatar, Tulukoota Qatar, Alkhor Community & MCC succeeded to enter into the semi final round. Tulukoota beat the Karnataka Sangha Team & MCC beat Alkhor team and entered into final.
Meanwhile a small valedictory function was also conducted. MCC president Norbert Corda & Prakash Noronha escorted the chief guest and main sponsor of the event Mrs &Mr Alfred sequeira, Managing Director Gulf International Enterprises. Guest of honour Allen Currie from Kentz Qatar, Wilfred Fernandes Al-Ghanim holdings, H.R Hamid EMCO Qatar, MCC founder member Jerry D’mello were present on the dias.
All the teams were honored with token of appreciation. MCC joint sports secretary Violet veigas welcome the gathering, President Norbert Corda delivered the occasional speech and thanked all the sponsors and Alexious castelino delivered vote of thanks. Matche refree Lynel Jason Lobo & score reader Wilfred crasto were honored with mementos.
The final match was inaugurated by Mrs. Rita Alfred Sequira by throwing the ball inside the court. MCC succeeded to become Champion of 13th Women Throwball Tournament. Aarti Fernandes bagged the Best player of the tournament award & Angila Dias won best smasher award.
Supporters enjoyed on ground with lots of fun, dance and celebration.
