Mayur Award Conferred on Sudhir Kumar Shetty

The philanthropist NRI Dr B R Shetty presented the coveted Mayur Award to UAE Exchange CEO Sudhir Kumar Shetty in the presence of hundreds of Kannadiga expatriates here on Friday.

The dignitaries were accorded traditional welcome accompanied by trumpets, drums and folk artistes at the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Sudhir Shetty said that he hailed from a remote village in Dakshina Kannada and moral values that are instilled by his parents stood steadfast in his life to rise to such heights.  He also acknowledged the trust laid upon him by his mentor B R Shetty in his career growth to become CEO of UAE Exchange.  He expressed his gratitude to Karnataka Sangh – Sharjah for choosing him to confer the coveted award.

Karnataka Sangh – Sharjah office bearer Denis Mark D’Souza briefed the path treaded by the Sangh in its eleven years of existence.

Karnataka Sangh – Sharjah president Satish Poojary, Fortune Group of Hotels director Praveen Shetty, Chilly Willy director Satish Venkataramana, Indian Association – Sharjah president Y A Rahim, office beares M V Muloor and Sasikant Kanangi were present at the dais.

Karnataka Sangh – Sharjah president Satish Poojary couple, Jeevan Kukyan couple and Vasundar Sampat Kumar and G S Rajalaxmi who staged a scintillating cultural show during the eleventh annual day celebrations were felicitated at the occasion.

The key sponsor of eleventh annual day celebrations B R Shetty was also honoured during the programme.

B R Shetty released Mayur decennial commemorative bulletin of Karnataka Sangh – Sharjah at the same occasion.

Satish Poojary presented a cheque of Rs 1 lac to Paulose, chief trustee of Seon Ashram, a home for mentally challenged, located at Kakkinje in Beltangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.

The entrepreneurs James Mendonca, Herman Lewis, Sarvottam Shetty, K R Tantri, Balarishna Salian and several dignitaries were present.  

The variety cultural shows by Bangalore-based Nataraj Dance School, the children of members of Karnataka Sangh – Sharjah, skits by the artistes of Gammat Kalavider, compering by Rahini Anand and Rajesh Kuttar, 92.7 FM Bangalore RJ Shruti charged up the occasion.

Satish Poojary along with office bearers hoisted the Kannada flag followed by Kannada anthem to begin the programme.
