Dubai: A new generation of professionals and entrepreneurs graduated from Manipal University, Dubai at its tenth convocation ceremony held at Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai on October 15, 2016.

The convocation ceremony of the Class of 2016 that was declared open by Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor of Manipal University, India, conferred academic degrees to around 500 students from various programs and disciplines including Business, Engineering, Interior Design, Life Sciences, and Media.

Dr. S.V. Kota Reddy, Academic President, Manipal University, Dubai welcomed the gathering and congratulated the Class of 2016 in his commencement speech.

The ceremony wasaddressed by H. E. Mr. Anurag Bhushan, Consul General of India to the U.A.E. and Mohammad Abdullah, ‎Managing Director, Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) andDubai Knowledge Park (DKP), who also gave away the DIAC Special Awards for Academic Excellence.

The recipients of ‘Scholarship for the Girl Student’ were announced by Ravi Panchanadan, CEO (Middle East and Africa), Manipal Global Education (MaGE). The 100 per cent higher education scholarship is a collaborative scheme of the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi and Manipal University, Dubai. The citations were conferred by Shruti Pai, Director, Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG), S. Vaitheeswaran, MD and CEO, MaGE and H.E. Anurag Bhushan.

The ceremony also honoured recipients of special awards for academic excellence and outstanding contribution. The awards were conferred by Shruti Pai and Dr. Ranjan Ramdas Pai, CEO and MD, MEMG, respectively.

Dr.V. Surendra Shetty, Pro Vice Chancellor, Manipal University, Mangaluru Campus and Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Registrar, Manipal University graced the occasion along with other dignitaries.

The ceremony held at Atlantis Ballroom in Atlantis, The Palm had around 1800 attendees includingalumni,industry partners and esteemed guests. The event was streamed live and is archived online for future viewing.
