
Dubai, UAE: Kavi Sandhi, a poetry recital, and presentation on various forms of poetry held at Smana Hotel Dubai on February 28 enthralled poetry lovers and introduced them to a new world of imagination through a poet’s feelings.
Kavi Sandhi was organized by UAE’s Konkani poet friends in association with Kavitha Trust and aankri.com poetry web portal. The session kick-started with a short welcome note from Mr. Floyd Kiran. Famous singer, producer and chairman of Merit Freight Shipping Mr. Joseph Mathias in his inaugural speech requested all Konkani speaking people to conserve the rich heritage of the language along with teaching the true essence of Konkani language and culture to the younger generation.
Mr. Floyd Kiran presided over the Poetry session. UAE’s Konkani poets namely Mr. Robin Nirude, Ms. Seema Taccode, Mr. Tony Niddodi (Anthonam), Ms. Preethi Seema, Mr. Vivian Fernandes, Mr. Alwyn Pinto, Mr. Sannu Niddodi, Mr. Melwyn Kalakul, Mr. Dony Correa, Ms. Daina Sharal Patrao, Mr. Darrel Vamanjoor, Mr. Anil Cardoza, Mr. Alban David Prakash Alva (Bhotam Boliye), Mr. P.J. Karugalnade and Mr. Sannu Monis presented their poetry on various topics which received appreciation and applause from the discerning gathering.
The second part of the session was commenced with poet and lyricist Mr. Arthar Pereira presenting poems of various poets around the world along with his own in the most effective way.
Kavi Sandhi was organized to uplift the importance of poetry presentation and to encourage new writers. Poet Arthur used his body language and voice modulation to demonstrate a mesmerizing poetry recital effectively involving the audience.
Famous critic writer Mr. Nanu Marol spoke on poet Mr. P.J. Karugalnade’s “Nirbhagi Avoi” poem. He elaborated on the different phrases used by the poet and explained how it can create different meanings through the words used in a poem.
President of Kavitha Trust Mr. Kishoo Barkoor briefed the gathering about the mission and work done under the banner of the Kavitha Trust. He also spoke on Translated Literature and said, we must read different forms of literature including those written in other languages and need to translate the goodness of that literature into Konkani. The translation of literature into different languages will help to grow the language and help to understand different cultural forms. Mr. Kishoo presented his own poetry which was translated from Kannada to Konkani.
Managing Director of Quick accounting and Advisory and financial advisor of NewsKarnataka.com Mr. Valerian Almeida expressed his happiness at the organization of the recital and congratulated the organizers. He said, “the World is a battlefield and it is our responsibility to plant our own victory flags and a leave a mark through the various talents bestowed on us.”
Mr. Sannu Monis extended his gratitude to everyone present. Mr. Sannu Niddodi and Mr. Bhavik rendered their helping hand to organize the event.
