Sharjah : The Karnataka Sangha, Sharjah organized its annual picnic for its members and their family members at the National Park at Sharjah recently. Children’s Day and Karnataka Rajyotsava was also celebrated to coincide with the occasion.
The programme began with an invocation. Addressing the participants, chief guest Sarvottam Shetty, President of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha,wished success for the annual programme of the Karnataka Sangha, Sharjah.
Marc Dennis D’Souza, Patron of the Sangha, Sadan Das, Convenor of Kannada Koota, Omkar Anand, Yoga Master and Sudhaker Alva, Convenor of Nama Tuluver were the chief guests on the occasion.
Earlier, Satish Poojari, President of Karnataka Sangha, Sharjah welcomed the gathering. Prior to the sports event, Yoga Instructor Omkar Anand taught some simple Yoga exercises to the gathering.
The sports event was conducted by member Rajesh Kuttar. The participants were divided into four teams namely Kittura Rani Chennamma, Veera Madakari Nayaka, Sangolli Rayanna and Veera Rani Abbakka. All members including women and children actively took part in the sports activities.
The members were treated to a delectable lunch followed by prize distribution to the winners in various contests. Herman Luis of Radio Mirchi, Marc Dennis D’Souza, patron of the Sangha, Satish Poojari, President, Satish Venkatramana, MD of Chilly Willy, Harish Bangera, Usha Vishwanath Shetty and Rajani Jeevan Kukian distributed prizes to the winners.
Vishwanath Shetty, Executive Committee Member compered the programme.
