ICC holds events commemorating 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

Doha: The 150th birth anniversary of Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi is October 2, 2018 and Indian Cultural Centre has come forward to hold an array of programmes to pay respect to Mahatma Gandhi.

In order to spread the message of non-violence and to spread awareness on the life and teachings of Gandhiji, a quiz competition was held on September 25 at ICC Ashoka Hall. There were two rounds-written and oral and the teams selected for the final round were Yasmi Nazaruddeen and Asif Safeer, Vimal Prasad and Nandini Prasad, Pravalika Manepalli and Kalyan Ronak and Manjusha Sreejith and Anugrah Krishna. The first prize was won by Vimal Prasad and Nandini Prasad while Pravalika Manepalli and Kalyan Ronak and Yasmi Nazaruddeen and Asif Safeer were runners-up.

All teams were given participation certificates. The audience also enthusiastically participated in the quiz winning attractive prizes in the audience’s rounds. These prizes were sponsored by Jumbo Electronics.

Besides this, a public programme will be organised on October 2 at the ICC Ashoka Hall, where Ambassador of India to Qatar P Kumaran will be the chief guest. While the winners of the quiz will be awarded on this day, several cultural programmes too will be held.

ICC President Milan Arun welcomed the audience and quiz was conducted by ICC Head of Finance Girish Jain, ICC General Secretary Juttas Paul proposed the vote of thanks and the event was led by ICC Managing Committee members A P Manikandan, Vishal Mehta, Jaffar Khan, KS Prasad, Nayna Wagh and Anjan Kumar Ganguli supported by Deepak Shetty Advisor ICC MC.

The event was attended by community leaders Hassan Chougule, Chairman, ICC Advisory Council, KM Varghese, IBPC President, Kala Gopal IBPC Vice President Habibul Nabi, ISC General Secretary.
