Gammath Kalavider UAE presents tulu play ‘Yeddeduppuga’

Dubai: The much-awaited tulu play ‘Yeddeduppuga’, written by G Krishna Manjeshwara, was sucessfully staged on February 13, 2015 at the Emirates Theatre, Sheikh Zayed Road to mark the fourth anniversary, Team Gammath Kalavider.

The drama started with the lighting of the lamp by the guests and the invitees.

Akshatha Rao, Prasad Shetty and Harish Sherigar, entertained the audience with melodious songs. The new face of Gammath Kalavider, Deepthi Salian, who won ‘best female support actor’ for her role in a Tulu movie, was honoured on the occasion.

Vasu Shetty, a stage play artiste, active member of many organizations, supporter and sponsor of most of the cultural and community programmes in UAE, Satish Ullal, one of senior members of Gammath Kalavider and an active committee member of Dubai Billawas, were honoured for their selfless service to the society.

G Krishna Manjeshwara, writer of “Yeddeduppuga”, was also felicitated for his contributions in the field of Tulu stage play.

Gammath Kalavider honoured Janardhanan, Chief Executive of Spandana (a home of rehabilitation centre for mentally challenged adults in Udupi district and a non-governmental organization which works towards uplifting the less fortunate members of society), and handed over a cheque of Rs 7.56 lakh to Spandana, which inspired few other community leaders and businessmen to extend their generous monetary support, by promising to contribute towards the noble cause.

‘Yeddeduppuga’ was directed by Vishwanath Shetty. Deepthi Salian in the lead role, supported by other actors including Vasu Shetty, Suvarna Sathish Poojary, Kiran Shetty, Harish Kamath, Sampath Shetty, Sunil Suvarna, Jesh Bayar, Prakash Pakkala, Chithra Prasanna Shetty, Girish Kumar, Nitin Kumar, Monappa Poojary and Santhosh Poojary.

Vishwanath Shetty Nelyadi supported in music and keyboard, and Team Broadway brilliantly setup lighting and sound system.

Rajesh Kutthar, a multi-talented artiste compered the programme.
