Dubai: Once a symbol of Dubais stalled development market, the project billed as “the worlds tallest twisting tower” has finally completed in Dubai. Saudi Arabia-based developer Cayan Investment and Development monday formally inaugurated the 75-story tower, which spirals 90 degrees from base to tip.
Located in the Dubai Marina area, the residential tower has sold over 80 per cent of its approximately 570 residential units, which includes 495 apartments, with one to four bedrooms, and penthouses.
The tower, which has a 90 degree curve from top to bottom, also includes retail space and it is expected to have a spa as well. It is taken eight years to develop Cayan Tower, which was expected to be launched in 2010. The delay is a result of a number of factors, including the financial woes of 2008 that put many projects in Dubai on hold.
The Infinity was designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the firm responsible for the Burj Khalifa, the Trump Tower in Chicago and the Jin Mao in Shanghai.
