Qatar: The Tulu blockbuster ‘Dhand’ (Army) was successfully screened by Tulu Koota Qatar at Westend Park, Asian Town, Industrial area in Qatar on Friday, May 27, 2016 amidst a large number of Tulu well wishers.

Tulu Koota Qatar, a socio-cultural organization affiliated to Indian Cultural Centre under the aeigis of Embassy of India, Qatar, has been in the forefront of promoting the native language and Tulu culture in Qatar, by hosting events like Tulu drama, skits, movies, classical and folk dances etc by providing platform for the local artists, members and also for the artists from Karnataka specially from Coastal region of Tulu Naadu.

With the same objective behind, along with other Qatar based Karnataka associations such as KSQ, Bunts Qatar, MCC, SKMWA and KMCA it came forward to screen the movie.

The movie is produced by a well known social worker based in Dubai, Shodhan Prasad and directed by Ranjith Bajpe, under the banner of Sandhya Creations. It stars Arjun Kapikad, Sandeep Shetty, Anoop Sagar, Deepak Paladka, Gopinath Bhat, Umesh Mijar, Ranjan Boloor, Shilpa Suvarna, Anvitha Sagar, and Subhash Bangera in the lead roles.

Anoop Sagar, co-actor of Dhand was the Guest of honour during the screening of the movie. Tulu Koota Vice President Prakash Rao felicitated Anoop Sagar. Anoop Sagar spoke on the occasion and thanked Qatar audience for giving an opportunity to release Dhand in Qatar.

Divakar Poojary, past president of Tulu Koota Qatar introduced the guests and thanked all who were present for their support and encouragement behind the success of Dhand screening in Qatar.

Ravi Shetty, President of Tulu Koota who was recently awarded with an International Award ‘Arya Bhata’ for his extensive community services, extended his full support to the event. However, he could not attend the show as he had to attend a felicitation program in Kuwait on Friday at the same time.
