Dubai : Billawa Family Day-2014, the annual get-together of the members of the Billawa community residing in UAE was celebrated with much fanfare at the Jumeirah Ballroom Auditorium at Crown Plaza here in the presence of a host of dignitaries.
Muddu Moodubelle, noted poet and writer was the chief guest. He along with Jithendra Suvarna, the chairman of the function and other dignitaries inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp and offering tributes to the portrait of Shree Narayana Guru.
Chief guest Muddu Moodubelle was felicitated on the occasion by presenting him with a shawl, flowers, fruits and memento. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, he exhorted the members of the Billawa community to empower themselves through education and organization. As per the call given by Shree Narayana Guru, Billawas must work towards the welfare of the community. He also lauded the achievements and service initiatives of the Billawa community in the UAE.
Mulki Chandrashekhar Suvarna, Founder of Suvarna Arts who has won several awards for the unique ballet ‘Tulunada Vaibhava’ was felicitated on the occasion.
Jithendra Suvarna honoured the programme organizers by presenting them with mementoes. Meritorious students were also felicitated on the occasion. Talented artistes from Billawa community presented an attractive dance programme.
The ballet ‘Tulunada Kala Vaibhava’ presented under the direction of Chandrashekhar Suvarna, unveiled a whole new world and won the appreciation of the audience.
A short film on Northern Sky Properties, well known real estate firm of Mangalore was also screened on the occasion. Atmika Amin, Chief of Dubai branch of Northern Sky also gave details about the real estate company.
Sunil compered the programme. Several Billawa community leaders and entrepreneurs participated in the programme.
