Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Indian School (ADIS) was abuzz with activities as the school celebrated the 67th Republic Day of India on January 26. A grand celebration commemorating the momentous occasion was organized by the ADIS fraternity with great fervor and enthusiasm. The ceremony began at 9 am when the Chief Guest, Dr BR Shetty, the Chairman Board of Governors unfurled the tri-colour national flag of India in the presence of a large crowd consisting of parents, students, staff, ex-chairman Mohan Jashanmal, Board of Governors, officials from Abu Dhabi Education Council and various other institutions. It was followed by the singing of National Anthem of India and releasing of tri-coloured balloons signifying sacrifice, unity and peace.
The spectacular march past performed by students across the various sections of the school was a breathtaking event that infused the spirit of patriotism, unity and integrity among the students. With the synchronized movements of the squads comprising of 500 students clad in smart uniforms. The sprawling campus once again came alive with the spirit of patriotism before the Chief Guest who took the salute from the dais.
The Chief Guest in his address, reminded the students to be proud as Indians and to strive hard to safeguard her rich and diverse culture. The Principal NC Vijayachandra, in his welcome speech highlighted how as a nation we should always stay united and that the feeling of nationalism and patriotic fervor must be inculcated in young Indians across the globe. He encouraged one and all to spread the path of national programmes by taking up individual responsibilities righteously and releasing the importance of self-development of moral values.
The cultural programmes that followed caught the attention of the audience. The melodious music and graceful movements of the performers enthralled the spectators. As the republic Day celebrations came to a close, the young Indians and the teachers were seen drenched in the spirit of patriotism.
