Moodbidri: A spectacular procession depicting the folk and cultural glory of the land heralded the beginning of the Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat on December 19, Thursday. The procession which commenced from Moodbidri Chowta palace was inaugurated by folk artiste Nadoja Sukri Bomma Gowda.






The procession culminated at Vidyagiri by passing through main streets of the town. Over 5000 folk artistes from over 110 troupes participated in the procession. The children’s folk dance troupes added a special flavour to the procession. There were around 100 Dollu Kunitha artistes, 70 Koragara Dolu artistes, 40 Veerabhadra Kunitha artistes, 80 artistes of Kalladka Ramesh Doll troupe, 30 Ati Kalanjas, as well as Daff artistes. There was a special walk of theatre artistes depicting over 200 roles. There were Yakshagana Veshadharis, Banjara dancers, Tattiraya, Somana Kunitha, Huli Vesha, Tayyam, Kaththakkali, Kerala Chende team of women, 500 member troupe holding the national tri colour, Kolata Maragalu Kuntha and Srilanka drum artistes, all adding to the splendour of the Nudisiri Virasat procession.
