Udupi Shri Krishna Temple, commonly known as Krishna Mutt is one of the sacred temples in South India. Located 60 km away from Mangaluru city, the temple draws thousands of devotees across the nation every year.
The idol of Krishna in the temple was installed by Saint Madhvacharya, the founder of Dwaitha Philosophy and one of the great Acharyas. Pajaka, the birth place of Sri Madhvacharya has the essence of enlightnment. The house of Sri Madhvacharya is a notable one and stands tall in Pajaka Kshetra.

The worship of Lord krishna is done through a silver plated window with 9 holes called Navagraha Kitaki. Resembling a living ashram, the mutt is surrounded by 8 mathas called as Ashta Mathas. The head of each of the Ashta Matha serves for a period of 2 years. The ceremony of handing over the charge of worship by one Math to another is known as the Paryaya Festival. This festival, held once in two years, in the month of January, attracts thousands of pilgrims, from various corners.

A pilgrim place and a spot for people who love to get immersed in history and culture, Shri Krishna Mutt is an apt place.
