The 67th Republic Day celebrations held at the Field Marshal Manekshaw parade ground in the city centre saw about 8,000 people, including women and children flock to the venue on a sunny day with wintry chill still in the air.

Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala on Tuesday unfurled the tricolour and received guard of honour to mark the 67th Republic Day here.

Besides state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Home Minister G. Parameshwara and Bengaluru Development Minister K.J.George, a host of VIPs, dignitaries and officials, including top police officers were present.

The parade saw wonderful tableaux and other displays that held the attention of those gathered.
