Bengaluru: Diwali or Deepavali, is one of India’s biggest and brightest of all Hindu festival celebrations.
Also termed the ‘Festival of Lights’, it gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (or deepa/diyas) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects us from spiritual darkness.
People decorate their houses with clay lamps or diyas, draw different patterns called ‘Rangoli’ on the entrance using colored powders or sand.
Take a look at the different types of mud (clay) Diyas that arrived at Gandhi Bazar market in Bengaluru.
