Business tycoon Anand Mahindra is an active user of the social media platform X, where he shares captivating videos and insights on global innovations. Among his varied posts, he often sheds light on culinary innovations. Recently, on his X handle, Mahindra shared a video featuring a newly launched tiffin service in London, drawing inspiration from Mumbai’s renowned dabbawala system. Mumbai’s dabbawala system, a century-old lunch delivery mechanism, efficiently caters hot meals to the city’s workforce.

Echoing Mumbai’s efficient and eco-friendly model, the London-based tiffin service also opts for sustainable practices, ditching single-use plastic containers. In the showcased video, the company employs traditional Indian steel tiffin boxes filled with delectable plant-based dishes like paneer sabzi, mixed vegetables, and rice. Embracing the eco-conscious approach further, they wrap the steel lunch boxes in cloth and transport them via cargo bikes. With aspirations for expansion, the company’s growth trajectory seems promising. Mahindra, sharing the video, humorously remarked, “No better—or more ‘delicious’—evidence of reverse colonization!”

Witnessing Mumbai’s iconic tiffin service inspiring a parallel initiative in London, numerous followers of Anand Mahindra expressed their reactions in the comments section.

In response to Mahindra’s witty caption, one user questioned, “Is it colonization or a business opportunity?” To which, Mahindra replied in a light-hearted manner, “It’s a light-hearted post. Smile. It’s Sunday.”

The post garnered further engagement with various intriguing reactions.
