Wage hike demand for Anganwadi, ASHA & meal workers

Kalaburagi: The CPI district mandal organized a protest on Saturday, urging for a monthly salary of Rs 15,000 for anganwadi workers, Rs 10,000 for helpers, Rs 8,000 for ASHA workers, and Rs 6,000 for mid-day meal workers.
The current Congress government should step up to fulfill the sixth promise among the five guarantees made during the assembly elections. They are calling for the repeal of the BJP government’s farm laws and APMC acts, along with the withdrawal of cases filed against the farmers, according to the protesters’ demands.
Additionally, they have suggested amending the Factories Act to extend working hours from 8 to 12 hours and permitting women to work night shifts, a proposal they believe should be canceled immediately. The protesters have also called for the regularization of pourakarmikas’ employment. They have proposed the upgrade of 2,500 schools to smart schools each year and advocated for making guest teachers and lecturers permanent. Furthermore, they emphasize the need to fill vacant positions in schools, colleges, and hospitals.
There is a call for the enhancement of primary health centers and an increase in the number of beds at taluk level hospitals. Additionally, there’s a demand for the implementation of a strong law to prevent crimes against women. It’s urged that the police department should have a representation of 33 percent women personnel and officers. Furthermore, there is a request for the establishment of a Gender Minorities Welfare Board and the formulation of essential schemes.
There is a proposal to offer housing to those without land and construct habitable residences for the SC/ST communities. Additionally, there’s a request for the establishment of a separate commissionerate dedicated to the development of the Kalyana Karnataka region. It’s also urged that irrigation projects within the district be promptly completed.
The protest saw the presence of party state council member Maula Mulla, district secretary Mahesh Kumar Rathod, and joint secretaries Prabhudeva Yelasangi and Padmavathi Mali Patil.
