Mangaluru: There have been reports of transgenders extensively harassing the public and forcefully extorting money from them. Last night, the Mangaluru police took action against these incidents by intervening and confronting the transgenders involved.
Thirteen transgenders are facing legal action as the police have filed a case against them for their actions. In the evening, these transgenders were found engaging in provocative behaviour towards men and forcibly extorting money from passers-by near Kuntikana in Mangaluru city. Such incidents of harassment and forceful extortion have been commonly reported in the area.
Similar indecent behaviour and harassment were observed from transgenders standing in an offensive manner near Kuntikana Bridge. This led to widespread opposition from the public, and protests also took place. In light of these incidents, the local police warned the transgenders against behaving inappropriately and urged them to refrain from such actions.

Officers from Urva Police Station conducted strict surveillance. Last night, when a similar incident recurred, the police took stern action and apprehended some of the transgenders.
As the verbal dispute intensified, Urva Inspector Bharti and Sub-Inspector along with additional police personnel arrived at the scene to maintain order and fulfil their duties. Due to their intervention, 13 transgenders were arrested and presented before the magistrate for their actions.
