Mysuru: The Yuva Dasara sub-committee will conduct Yuva Sambhrama and Yuva Dasara with water conservation as the main theme, to create awareness among people about the importance of water.

Addressing mediapersons at Information Department here on Saturday, Superintendent of Police Ravi D Channannavar who is the Deputy Special Officer of Yuva Dasara Sub-committee said that Yuva Sambhrama will be held at Manasagangothri’s amphitheatre from September 23 to September 28, while the much awaited Yuva Dasara will be held at Maharaja College Ground from October 3 to October 9.

“The budget allotted to Yuva Dasara is just Rs 1.5 crore. We have also roped in private firms including TVS and Asian paints to sponsor Yuva Dasara as well as Yuva Sambhrama. This year during Yuva Dasara, renowned playback singers including Benny Dayal, Raghu Dixit, Shalmali Kholgade, Javed Ali and Coke Studios will enthral the audiences. To give opportunity to the college teams to perform on a bigger stage, the organizers have decided to select 25 best teams to perform in Yuva Dasara. Four judges will select best teams and they will take the centre stage before the main artists perform,” added Ravi Channannavar.

Over 100 teams from different colleges across the state will perform every evening from September 23 to September 28. Students have to perform based on themes like Ambedkar, environment, Gandhiji and birth anniversary of D Devaraj Urs.

October 3 – Benny Dayal and troupe; October 4 – Raghu Dixit and troupe; October 5 – Shalmali Kholgade and troupe; October 6 – yet to be decided; October 7 – Javed Ali and troupe; October 8 – Coke studious; October 9 – Sandalwood night.
