Youth who stopped Modi’s convoy released

Mysuru: Police on Tuesday, January 5 released the 19-year-old youth who made his way to headlines by stopping Prime Minister’s convoy for 20 seconds at the ground opposite the Maharaja’s College where Modi was attending the Centenary celebration of the late pontiff of Suttur Mutt Shivaratri Rajendra Swami.
Vinay who wanted to submit a draft copy of his brainchild ‘Green India project’ to the PM, after release spoke to reporters and said, people may think what I did was wrong but according to me it was not. “I wanted to show my project to Prime Minister Modi but police stopped me. I might have taken wrong decision by stopping the convoy but my intention was right, so I am not disappointed,” he said adding that his project is good for the country and needs to be approved.
He further said that he would apologise to people if he is wrong.

Vinay(19), son of Kishore, an electrician, and Sunitha, residents of Varakodu on Mysuru-T Narsipur Road just wanted to meet the prime minister and wanted to submit the draft on his pet project Green India. He is pursuing his diploma course in Kushalnagar and had come down to Mysuru a couple of days back with an intention of meeting Modi.

On January 3, Vinay did not want to miss an opportunity to meet Modi, hence he went to Kautilya Circle nearby. According to eyewitnesses, at 7:35 pm, he (Vinay) came in front of the Prime Minister’s convoy, stopping it for 20 seconds. The Special Protection Group (SPG), sent the boy aside and cleared the way.
