Mysore : “The Parliamentary system is the greatest set up in a democratic system “, said MLA,Vasu. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the Student Union of MMK and SDM Mahila MahaVidyalaya and Girls PU College here on Wednesday August 13.

“Formation of student councils help in sowing the seeds of efficient administration in the young minds.The educated youth must take part in the governance of the nation instead of confining themselves to just franchising their votes” he said.

He lauded the institution for encouraging women education and being the first private institution in the city to start colleges exclusively for women,post the Wodeyar rule.

He urged the students to recognise the tremendous opportunities and inculcate leadership qualities for a successful life ahead. He also encouraged them to look up to successful women who are at the helm of administrative affairs in the city and not limit their career opportunities to just being engineers or doctors.

Degree students,Anupama C (President), Sushma C ( Vice President),Dolly Bosco(Secretary) and Pre University students, Jesty Francis ( President), Aasima (Vice President)  and Laalithya ( Secretary)  were sworn in as the members of the student council.

The annual magazine of the college,  ‘ Hamsadhvani’ was also released on the occasion.
