Youth held for circulating fake notes

Mysuru: The Nazarbad Police have arrested a person from West Bengal on charges of circulating fake currency of Rs.1,000 denomination on Saturday.

The youth has been identified as 27-year-old Noban Momin, son of Kabiruddin Momin, a resident of Bagalapura village in Modla district of West Bengal.

It is reported that one Somanna of Kuppegala and others, who came across Noban circulating fake Rs. 1,000 denomination note at M.G. Road vegetable market immediately alerted Nazarbad Police, who reached the spot and arrested the Bengali youth recovering two Rs. 1,000 original currency notes, four fake notes and a mobile phone from him.

On interrogation, Noban is said to have confessed that he was brought to Mysuru by Thaimur from West Bengal for circulation of fake currency notes and they were residing at a lodge in city, which he, claimed that he could not identify. Police, who have taken Noban into custody, have launched a hunt for Thaimur.

City Police Commissioner Dr. M.A. Saleem, in a press release has lauded the public for providing information on fake note circulation.
