Yoga trainer from Mysuru sets new record

Mysuru: K S Badari Narayan, a yoga trainer who quit his software engineer’s job in Malaysia, has set a new record by performing sirasasana.

Narayan who has already received certificates from Limca Book of Records, US-based Recordsetter, Unique World Records and UK-based Records Holders Republic, added another feather in his cap after he received a similar honour from the Assist World Records, a research foundation, for performing the difficult asana at 575 places from January 1, 2015 to Dec 31, 2015.

He has created a record by performing sirasasana at 650 places for 400 days at a stretch at Unesco World Heritage sites like Angkor Wat, ThaProm, Penang Heritage City, Malacca Heritage City, Belur, Halebid, Sravanabelagola, Srirangapatna, and Somanathpura.

Narayan is the son of a national level body builder, K R Srinivasan and Bharathi. He is a descendant of freedom fighter C Rajagopalachari. He worked in Malaysia for four years and married to a Malaysian Tamil.

He is basically from Bengaluru, returned to his mother’s native Mysuru to pursue yoga. His motive is to spread the divine yogic knowledge especially sirasasana, which is regarded as the ‘King of Yogasana’.
