Women exhorted to opt for Rain Water Harvesting

Mysore: Senior Horticultural Director M.S.Raju has exhorted women to make good use of rain water by  opting for rain water harvesting. Women must also develop the art of converting trash into treasure (Kasadinda Rasa), he said.

Raju was speaking after inaugurating a programme organised at Curzon Park in the city on Saturday June 28  to encourage people to  develop kitchen gardens and terrace  gardens under the National Krishi Vikasa Yojana of the year 2013-14. The programme was organised by the Department of Horticulture and District Horticulture Association. He further told the  participants to  use the vegetable wastes in the  kitchen to develop organic manure for their gardens. Rain water harvesting and  effective management of waste water from kitchen is also essential, he said.

He said a total of 3000 people can benefit from the scheme in the year 2013-14.
