Winged beauties to promote Mysuru Dasara

Mysuru: In order to lure international tourists and draw worldwide attention, the state tourism department has planned to promote Dasara on all modes of transport with focus on aeroplanes.

The state tourism department has called for tenders from national and international carriers making a minimum of 1460 trips annually and with a minimum seating capacity of 150 seats.

Many carriers had asked for advertisements and in response tenders have been called to make the entire process transparent, said Priyanka Kharge. Earlier, multiple agencies were in charge of advertisement and promotion but this time the entire onus rested on state tourism department, Kharge clarified.

The advertisement deal with the airline will enable the tourism department to paint Dasara logo/other information on the body of the renowned carrier, provide magazines, distribute hand outs during travel and all other materials to promote the festival, minister confirmed. Air carrier touching all Indian metros will be given preference and simultaneously the advertisement campaign will be carried out in Indian railway trains and state transport corporation buses.

A huge media blitz too is on the anvil, to give details of all attractive tourist locales near the cultural city of Mysuru to lure tourists and the advertisement contract will last for a year, minister clarified.

Road shows abroad:
With sufficient time in store and advanced planning before this year’s Dasara, the tourism department has planned road shows in prime cities abroad including London, Paris, Bangkok and Singapore.

A colourful musical band will be employed for the purpose and the band will perform in the neighbouring states of Kerala and Tamilnadu as well to ensure the presence of tourists from those states in large numbers during this Dasara.
