Mysuru: With the rumours making rounds that the cabinet ministers may tender their resignation so that new persons could take over, Minister for Health U T Khader has said that the government is not some family asset that people go asking for particular portfolios.

“It’s left to the high command and the Chief Minister to decide and we will obey their directions. If they ask us to resign, we will,” he said.
On the results of South Graduate constituency election he said “We have lost the election which is part and parcel of any election, but we need to rethink and study where exactly we are going wrong”.
JD (S) KT Srikante Gowda emerged as winner
JD(S) K T Srikante Gowda won the South Graduates’ Constituency election. Nearly 21 hours, after the elimination of Ravishankar, the final votes of Srikante Gowda were 23,619 while BJP candidate Ravishankar who stood second settled for 14,753. Returning Officer A M Kunjappa announced the results.
The win boosted the morale of the party which had lost the Rajya Sabha polls and the party managed to salvage its pride by winning two out of four seats in graduates’ and teachers’ constituencies. Srikante Gowda secured 21,544 votes while his rival M V Ravishankar of BJP who was just behind him in all the rounds of counting secured 19,728 votes. Congress candidate Dr H N Ravindra secured 9,323 votes. In the last three decades Congress has never won the Graduates’ seat. K S Bhagwan got 2,646 votes, former MLA Vatal Nagaraj secured 835 votes while H N Machegowda managed just 748 votes.
In the last election held on June, 2010, the constituency which had recorded 53.06 per cent voting, G Madhusudhan had won the election by defeating Srikante Gowda. Srikantegowda had emerged victorious against Madhusudhan in 2004 election.
