Vehicle of wedding party hits lorry: 4 dead, 5 critical

Nagamangala : A gory mishap  involving a Canter carrying a wedding party and a lorry near the Tattahalli Gate in the taluk on Sunday June 8 has  claimed the lives of four persons and has left five critically injured.

The deceased are Meghana (17),  Shivalinga (45, of Kajjikalanakoppalu, Prasanna (16) of Bheemanahalli and Ugregowda(60).  The injured have been identified as Lakkayya (65), Naveen (17), Lakshmamma Javara  of Bheemanahalli and Doddanna of Kalikoppalu. They have been admitted to the Adi Chuchanagiri Hospital.

The wedding of a woman of Tattahalli village was held with a youth of Kajjikalanakoppalu on Sunday. The mishap occurred when they were returning after the wedding in the afternoon.  As the canter vehicle neared the Tattahalli gate, a lorry heading towards Nagamandala was about to  collide head-on  with it.

However, the drivers of both the vehicles tried to avert a head-on collision by veering the vehicles to the side the result of which was that  the rear portion of both vehicles hit  against each other and  those sitting on the left side of the canter  veered towards the lorry and  their heads hit the lorry killing them on the spot. If Meghana, Shivalinga and Prasanna died on the spot, Ugregowda died while being taken to the hospital.
