University of Mysore to start 11 new degree colleges and 14 PG courses

Mysuru: The Academic Council of the University of Mysore during its meeting gave nod to start 11 new degree colleges and 14 post-graduate courses at different places under its territory. Various issues were discussed during the meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof K.S. Rangappa at Crafford hall on June 2.

Apart from Mysuru district, the colleges will come up in Hassan, Mandya and Chamarajnagar districts. The evening college will be named after Nadoja De Ja Gow who passed away recently.

The colleges and the courses are listed below:

In addition, Teresian Carmel Educational Society in Mandya and Sri Chayadevi Vidya Niketan Trust were given permission to start B.Ed courses in their respective institutions. Though some institutions failed to fulfill the norms laid down by the enquiry council, they were allowed to continue this year keeping in mind the interest of the students.

The Kananda and Culture department has provided Rs one crore to start a new study centre in the name of P.R.Thippeswamy. The Academic council gave permission to prepare the draft proposal to establish the study centre.
