Mysore: Dr Anand V Patil, Deputy Director of Mysore Akashavani has said that Reality Shows which choose winners based on public voting, will have a negative effect on the minds of the children. Moreover, there is also a possibility of talented children remaining away from the fray owing to this practice, he observed.

Patil was speaking after inaugurating Mysoru Kogile -2014, a music talent hunt contest organised at Jaganmohan Palace in the city in commemoration of the 130th anniversary of Nalvady Krishnaraja Wodeyar. The programme was jointly organised by the Bharatiya Sanskritika Vikasa Vedike and Yashaswini Groups, Mysore- Bangalore.
Continuing, he said the Reality Shows aired on TVs for children, have made many parents pressurise their kids to forget studies and involve them completely in the activity for two to three months. Instead of such pressure tactics we need competitions that help in exhibiting the talents of the kids in a free atmosphere, he further added.
Yashaswini Somashekhar, President of Yashaswini Groups, KP Kumaraswamy, Vice President, T Mahadevaswami, Director, N Khaleel, playback singers Suneetha, Surekha and others were present
Over one hundred children from Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajnagar districts are participating in the three-day event.
