Tulunada Siri , Yakshagana Play staged in City

Mysore: The hundreds of natives of undivided Dakshina Kannada district and Malnad who have made their abodes in the cultural city here were enthralled by “Tulunada Siri” Yakshagana play that was organized by BEML – Dakshina Kannada natives Association here on Sunday July 21.


The Yakshagana enthusiasts enjoyed the show staged by Satish Shetty Patla and his group on the occasion.

Karnataka Police Academy deputy director Dr Dharanidevi Malagatti inaugurated the Yashagana play by planting paddy sapling here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dharanidevi said it is the great honor to know that the natives of Tulunadu were successful in introducing Yakshagana that has the splendor of Tlunadu culture and traditions in overseas, said Dr Dharanidevi.

She further commended the Yakshagana artistes for the superb show that was incorporated of entire Tulunadu splendor.  She also lauded its maiden show here, because the Mysoreans are always accommodating to know the cultural hierarchy of all regions.

Mangalore University – Yakshagana director Dr Chinnappa Gowda was the chief guest lauded the programme that at the advent of modernity, the contemporary Yakshagana, the heroic art of Tulunadu is losing its sheen and staging Yakshagana play in the city will further sustain it, said Dr Gowda.

Lab & Group president Dr Sudheesh Shetty, Dakshina Kannada district Association president V Srinivas Rao, entrepreneur J B Poojary and others were present on the occasion.
