Transport officer suspended on charges of sexually assaulting lady conductor

Mysuru: The higher officer in Intelligence Transport Systems of City Transport department Maqsood Ahmed has been suspended on charges of sexually assaulting his junior officer – a lady conductor. A departmental inquiry also been placed in this regard.

A complaint was registered against Ahmed who had allegedly sexually assaulted the lady conductor for the last 8 months.

Investigating team has reportedly collected primary information from the complainant. They also received information on the incident from Mysuru City Transport Department officials. After questioning, the probing teams confirmed the assault and hence the accused has been suspended from his duty, said City Transport Department officer K Ramamurthy.

Conductor P Bharati had accused her immediate boss Maqsood Ahmed, Transport officer in ITS division of tormenting her sexually over a period of time. Her husband Anil Kumar accompanied her while lodging the complaint with the police where she provided the audio recording which exposed Maqsood Ahmed’s lusty behavior.

She was transferred eight months ago to the ITS division where Maqsood was her superior. According to her, Maqsood used to harass her adopting various ways like touching her hands without reason while signing files, placing his hands over her shoulders, sending lewd messages, making calls and conversing in an indecent manner and forcing her to accompany him. In addition, he tried to lure her with money and assured her of comforts if she gets involved in an extra-marital relationship with him, she alleged in her complaint.

The victim after registering complaint, alleged that she was threatened through phone call by Shafiq, a supporter of new education and Wakf minister of Karnataka, Tanwir Sait, of serious consequences if the complaint is not withdrawn by her, which she lodged against Maqsood Ahmed. However the minister has clarified that he has directed the officials to take action against the caller.
