Mysuru: The world famous Mysuru Zoo has been in news over the last few months due to animal deaths and adding to the same an African elephant breathed its last during wee hours of Wednesday following prolonged sufferings caused due to leg pain.
Tibu (47) an African elephant had developed acute leg pain over the last 25 days due to some unknown reason.

The elephant was brought along with a female elephant to Mysuru from Germany in 1976.

While the female elephant passed away seven years ago, Tibu became ferocious and violent after losing the companion. Petrified by this, the Mahouts at the Zoo had stopped caring for Tibu, it is alleged.

The death spree of animals holds mirror to the acute incompatibility and animosity among Zoo officials, government representatives, workers and caretakers of the animals.

The mysterious death of a Chimpanzee here set a prelude to the disappointing death series of the animals. So far tiger, Giraffe, two rhinos and several other animals have breathed their last.
