Mysuru: The cold war between the Queen of Mysuru and the district Deputy Commissioner has deprived the tourists from all across the globe from enjoying the beauty of the 800-year-old gem studded golden throne.

The throne weighing 280 kg is usually kept outside on display for a little over a month during Dasara. However this year, Queen Pramoda Devi Wadiyar has made sure that the throne placed in Ambavila Darbar is covered with a cloth and locked.
It is a practice that the howdah is insured before exhibiting it during the Dasara celebrations. However, a cold war between the queen and Mysuru DC Shikha began when the latter insured the howdah in the name of the Mysuru Dasara Committee and not Pramoda Devi, which used to be the case erstwhile.
The differences between the royal family and the district administration were evident as the queen first refused to give the howdah. It was only after the new functionary of the Mysuru Administration Indramma and Police Commissioner B Dayanand urged the queen that she agreed.
However, her anger doesn’t seem to have sobered down as she has now kept the golden throne under wraps.
