Srimangala: Close on heels of tiger death in Nagarahole region last Sunday another tiger died due to snare trap injuries at Srimangala near Ponnampet on Sunday, January 29.
The tigeress died five kms away from national park, beside Lakshamana teertha river and was first spotted by the villagers. Nittur where a tiger died last is 10 kms away from this spot.
DCF Surya Sen Patak said that the tigress is about five-years-old was fell into a tramp laid for wild boars. He also suspects that the tiger must have died somewhere else, but the carcass may have been disposed by people here.
He said Tithimathi ACF Shripathi registered an FIR in this regard and investigating.
The increasing number of tiger death has become a major cause of concern for the forest end, which is also at the receiving end in couple of cases where the tigers had succumbed to negligence of the forest staff.
