Mysuru: The Mysuru Airport authorities have announced the addition of three flights from Mysuru by the end of October. The decision comes after an overwhelming number of requests were made for the same. Apart from flights to Bengaluru, more than 80-85 per cent of flights to and from other regions have been booked.
Since June 7, Mysuru has been connected via air-travel to five different places – Goa, Hyderabad, Kochin, Bengaluru and Chennai – under the government’s “Udaan” scheme. The occupancy rates of these flights are said to be indicative of a growing tourism industry within Mysuru.
Mysuru Airport Director R Manjunath said, “There is a great response for almost all flights operating from Mysuru. Not only have people started travelling from Mysuru, but people have also started coming to Mysuru. Given the overwhelming response, Indigo has come forward to operate one more flight from Mysuru while True Jet has decided to operate two flights from Mysuru to Belgaum and Mysuru to Chennai.”
“We have been getting a good response especially from Chennai and Hyderabad,” he added.
Manjunath also said that basic infrastructural facilities such as toilets, drinking water and waiting areas will soon be provided to visitors on a permanent basis.
