Three-member central team visits Mysuru to study drought condition

Mysuru: The three-member Central team led by SM Kolhatkar started inspecting drought affected places in Mysuru district on Friday after visiting Hassan district.

Before the three member started their inspection, Deputy Commissioner D Randeep presented power point presentation about drought situation in the district. The district administration has estimated Rs 99.1 cr as loss incurred due to crop loss as well as amount required to dispense compensation to farmers.

The head of the team Kolhatkar said that the report would be submitted to the central government within two weeks.

The team arrived in the city on Thursday and stayed at the government guest house. After receiving information from the DC, the team headed for inspection.

Speaking to media persons, S N Kolhatkar said, “Yesterday we inspected the drought condition in Chamarajanagar and today we will be inspecting the drought situation here in Mysuru. Before visiting the drought affected areas, we have collected information from the district administration officials. Before preparing the final report we will meet in Bengaluru and discuss about the condition and try our best to make justice to the farmers who are affected.”

The team will visit Udbur, Maddur, Chamalapura, Kellahalli, Harohalli, Khyatanahalli, Alanahalli, Dharmapura, Chellahalli, Bilikere, Kamalapura and Hunsawadi villages in the district.

The team comprises of Kolhatkar, Satish Kumar Kamboj and S C Meena.
