Threat of flash flood looms large over villages on river banks

Mandya :With the Cauvery, Kapila, Hemavathi and other rivers in spate following heavy downpour in the past week, more than 20 villages on the banks of these rivers face the threat of flash floods.

Inflow of water from Hemavathi and Harangi reservoirs to KRS reservoir are 24,000 cusecs and 8,000 cusecs respectively, banking on which the outflow from KRS is almost 65,000 cusecs.

Due to the rivers in spate, the steps of Balmuri, Ranganthittu, Paschima Vahini in Srirangapatna, Sai Mandira, Gosai Ghat and Nimishamba Temples are submerged under water.

There is a threat of flash floods in Mavinakere, Mambarahalli, Varahanatha, Kallahalli, Ambigarahalli, Somanahalli, Srinivasa Agrahara, Enneholekoppalu, Mahadevapura, Boredevara temple, Katte Kyathanahalli, Bidarahalli, Mandagere, Belathooru, Bandihole, Somanathapura and other villages lying on the banks of Cauvery and Hemavathi rivers.
