Mysuru: Rationalist Prof K S Bhagwan on Sunday said that writers, activists like him are targeted by those who support caste system, descrimination and unequality.
Reacting to Nidumamidi seer’s statement that rationalist Prof K S Bhagwan is in the hit list of the fascist forces, Bhagwan said, “I am aware of the threats. Soon after the brutal killing of MM Kalaburagi, a youth from Dakshina Kannada had announced that Bhagwan would be the next target. But he was immediately arrested by the police. There is no clue about his whereabouts. This is a planned activity by the vested interests.”
He said that those who do not want equality, brotherhood and unity among all the religions have been targeting the intellectuals. “The state goverment has provided me security after which I have stopped getting threat calls. Even after several murders, Prime minister Modi has been silent which is saddening,” he added.
Following the murder of eminent journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh, the state police decided to provide security to around 25 writers and progressive thinkers.Prof. Chandrashekhar Patil, Yogesh Master, Giraddi Govindaraj and K.S. Bhagavan, are also under security cover since the killing of Kalburgi in August 2015.
