Mysuru: Every year, from India an average of one lakh students come for higher studies to America, said Amarnath Gowda, President, Association of Kannada Kootas of America (AKKA). He also mentioned that as of now, those who were legally right would not have any problems.

Amarnath said, “It’s just one week since Trump took over as the president of America. There are no problems for Indians or those Indians who have settled in America. The problem is only for those countries who were promoting and harbouring terrorism; for them immigration has been stopped. The problem will be only for those having criminal’s cases, those into conviction and illegal migrants will be deposed immediately. The illegal immigrants or those with criminal cases or into conviction from India are less but there are few people. Those whose documents are right will not have any problem as the enforcing authorities have become very strict.”

“Though there is slogan a called “Hire America by America” there is no problem as such. Every year, 65,000 people from across the world get H1 visa. Among 65,000 people working on H1 visas nearly 60 percent are Indians. This process can’t be changed overnight by anyone including the new president as it involves a lot of legal procedures. If the number has to come down or increase the congress in America should vote for changes. Every year an average of 40,000 to 50,000 people from India come for work on H1 visa. More about new president and his initiatives will be known only after a couple of months”, Amarnath who was in Mysuru to take part in the valedictory function of annual Suttur Jathra Mahotsav said.
