Mysuru: Two tamed elephant calves were returned by the Suttur Matt to the government after offering garlands and fruits in the presence of Suttur Seer on December 26.
Suttur Matt situated at the foothills of Chamundi hills had taken Drona and Champa in exchange of Masti and Lakshmi from the government. However, the Principal Chief Conservator of forests (PCCF) had instructed the matt to return both. In response, Suttur Matt returned the elephant calves back to the government after offering fruits and garlands.
The elephant calves in good health were shifted to animal rehabilitation centre in Koorgalli based on PCCF’s orders. The Mysuru Zoo can comfortably house 5 elephants and the 3 additional elephants will be shifted to the animal rehabilitation centre in Koorgalli, according to Mysuru Zoo executive Director Kamala Karikalan.
