Superstitious customs cannot be curbed by law alone, V. Rashmi

Mysuru: V. Rashmi, Director General, Administrative Training Institute at a social interaction on women’s empowerment said that Superstitious customs and cultural lapses cannot be curbed by law alone.

The social interaction was organised by R.K. Educational Institution of K. Honnalagere of Maddur taluk at Maharaja’s College Centenary hall here on Monday.

Rashmi contended that people should develop an awareness on superstitious customs to curb evil practices. She advised women to be aware of happenings in society and be confident to face challenges and problems.

Referring to the government schemes, Rashmi asked the students to obtain all the details from the officers concerned.

Replying to a query of a student as to why schools were not including self-defence techniques in extra-curricular activities of educational institutions, Prasaranga Director C. Naganna said that women in Delhi had commenced a campaign on women’s safety which should be emulated in other States.

State Balavikas Academy Chairman Shankar Halagatti, R.K. Institute Chairman B.Ramakrishna, working President Prasanna N.Gowda and others were present on the occasion.

The first three prize winners in the interaction were Parnikadevi (St. Michael School, Channapatna), Fiza Kousar (Chanakya school, Bettadapura) and Venkatesh (JSS School, Suttur).
