‘Superstitions will land us in darkness’

Mysore : Superstitions and  blind beliefs keep us  in the dark and make us move away from  rationalism and reality, said  Ma.Gu. Sadanandayya, former deputy director of the Department of Kannada and Culture.

He was speaking at the Basava Jayanthi endowment lecture and Vachana recitation programme organised at the Government Higher Primary School Auditorium at Kuduremaala on Monday June 30.  Sadanandayya also explained how the Vachanakaras of the 12th century fought against exploitation and superstition.

There is a need to instill good virtues in children and also to strive to build a caste-free society, he said.

Shivaramegowda, South Zone Block Education Officer, also spoke on the occasion. Dr S Shivarajappa, President of District Sharana Sahitya Parishat, KM Shivashanker Datti, businessman, Shantha Jagadish, noted singer,  Raju, SPMC President, KP Lalithamma. Headmistress and others were present.
