Mysuru: Untimely death of Rakesh Siddaramaiah has certainly left Chief Minister Siddaramaiah devastated. The young shoulders of Rakesh had ably carried the responsibility of Siddaramaiah’s Assembly segment.

With Rakesh’s death, a debate on Siddaramaiah’s successor has kicked off on the social networking sites. As per sources, Siddaramaiah’s younger son Dr Yathindra is not keen on entering politics and hence there seems to be a void. As per Siddaramaiah’s followers, Rakesh’ s son Dhavan Rakesh, who is all of 12 now and is pursuing his education in Germany must be made the successor of the CM in 2023. As per fans, the CM must contest the Assembly polls in 2018 from Varuna constituency or from Chamundeshwari, win over it. In 2023, he should field his daughter in-law and Rakesh’s wife Smitha, which would gradually pave path for Davan’s entry into politics.

Socialist CMs have suffered!

The state has witnessed some great socialist leaders who become the Chief Ministers in past. But, none of them could have their successors inducted into politics. After the demise of Devraj Urs, his children remained away from political arena. Talk of Ramakrishna Hegade, J H Patel, Kengal Hanumanthaiah, none of their successors could make it big in politics.

With this, one may have to wait and watch if Siddaramaiah will have an able successor in future or he too will join the league of socialist leaders of the state who could not have successors in politics.
