Mysuru: “Parents are restricting their children only to academics with the sole purpose of getting marks. Students should build confident personalities by participating in cultural events like these”, said H. Janardhan Rangayana Director.

He was speaking at the start of the Folk and Theatre competition and College Rangotsav organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture for college students at Sriranga in Rangayana.
After inaugurating the event Janardhan said that children should be given freedom to select their own field and be allowed to grow in the field where they have interest, else children may go into depression, which may lead to them losing their life. He added, “students should utilize the chance given and showcase their talents”.
More than 300 students took part in the two day competition from various colleges of Mysuru.
Information Department Deputy Director A.R. Prakash, Senior Theatre Person Prof. H.S. Umesh, University of Mysore Student Welfare Officer Dr. M. Rudraiah, Nataka Academy Member B.M. were also present.
