Mandya: A woman hailing from Bekkalale village of Mandya district, was exploited and tortured as a bonded labourer. District In-charge Minister C S Puttaraju visited the victimised woman’s house on Wednesday, September 26 and assured her help and support from the government.
The minister spoke to her for a couple of minutes and assessed her situation. He boosted her morale too in the meantime.
After the conversation with the victim, Puttaraju said, “The district administration has taken action on the case. MLA Dr. K Annadani has visited the Bekkalale village and has collected the information on the same. The report has been submitted to Chief Minister Kumaraswamy. The victimised woman will be provided with all the facilities as per the government provision.”
“Under the legal framework, along with employment opportunity, other basic necessities will also be fulfilled. The district administration is notified to restrict such acts in future and inform the same to the government. Stringent action against such criminals will be taken”, he added.
C S Puttaraju further said, “Media has a vital role to play in such matters. It should throw light on such instances and make the society aware. The officials are directed not to provide any legal aid and support for such criminals. Along with this, several other shameful acts are coming to light which is defaming the district.”
MLA Dr. K Annadani, Dalit Sangharsh Samithi State Convener M B Srinivas, Janata Dal (S) Taluk ST Division President Jairam, Vijaykumar and others were present.
